Sum Function Wins Audience Choice Award at Annapolis Film Festival
We went to Annapolis this weekend just hoping to share a story, but we left with something more.
Sum Function was awarded the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Documentary at the Annapolis Film Festival following its world premiere screening—and we’re still taking it in.
This one means a lot because it came from the people in the room.
On Saturday, we shared this film publicly for the first time. A room of supporters and strangers alike sat down to watch a story that, for us, has been years in the making. They laughed with us, and more importantly, they sat in the hard moments. And when it ended, they stayed to ask deep and thoughtful questions.
Right before the film began, something happened we won’t forget.
The entire Naval Academy Rugby Team walked in together and filled the front rows.
Future officers, there to support veterans who have lived through more than most. Two different chapters of service, in the same room, connected by something bigger than the game.
That moment alone would have made the weekend worth it.
Then on Sunday night, during the Best of Fest awards, we heard our name called.
Annapolis showed up for this film in a big way. The energy, the conversations, the people—we felt all of it. It was a reminder of why we made this in the first place, and we want to thank the team at AFF2026 for making it an unforgettable experience for the whole team.
This is just the beginning.
We’re taking Sum Function on the road, and we can’t wait to keep sharing it with more rooms like that one.
