Sum Function Earns Simone Signature Selection Award at Beverly Hills Film Festival

We brought Sum Function to Hollywood this week.

On April 14, we screened at the 26th Beverly Hills Film Festival at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatres. The festival featured a record 450 films from over 65 countries, spanning every genre and style of filmmaking. Our audience was great, and we had a chance to connect with a lot of viewers and fellow filmmakers.

The festival closed with its black-tie awards gala—a Hollywood-level, star-studded event—where several members of the Oscar Mike Militia, Bryan Anderson and Karah Behrend and the film’s editor, the endlessly talented Andy Bathrick, were in attendance.

That night, Sum Function was recognized with the Simone Signature Selection Award, a distinction given by festival founder Nino Simone. The award honors films that push the boundaries of cinematic artistry and redefine storytelling—recognizing bold, innovative, and deeply moving work that leaves a lasting mark on the silver screen.

“This one caught us off guard. To be chosen from such a large and talented field—across all genres—is an incredible honor. It means a lot, and it tells us we’re telling this story the right way.”
— Director Noah Currier

The Beverly Hills Film Festival, now in its 26th year, brings together filmmakers and audiences from around the world. To have this film shown and recognized in a theatre where so many iconic films have premiered is something we won’t soon forget.

Two festivals in, and we’re seeing the same thing: this story connects.

We’ve hit the East and West Coasts. Next stop: Texas.
