Sum Function Earns Simone Signature Selection Award at Beverly Hills Film Festival

We brought Sum Function to Hollywood this week.

On April 14, we screened at the 26th Beverly Hills Film Festival at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatres. The room was great, and we had a chance to connect with a lot of viewers and fellow filmmakers after the film.

The festival closed with its black-tie awards gala—a Hollywood-level, star-studded event—where several members of the Oscar Mike Militia and the film’s editor were in attendance.

That night, Sum Function was recognized with the Simone Signature Selection Award, a distinction given by festival founder Nino Simone. The award honors films that push the boundaries of cinematic artistry and redefine storytelling—recognizing bold, innovative, and deeply moving work that leaves a lasting mark.

The Beverly Hills Film Festival, now in its 26th year, brings together filmmakers and audiences from around the world. To have this film shown and recognized on that stage is something we won’t soon forget.

Two festivals in, and we’re seeing the same thing: this story connects.

We’ve hit the East and West Coasts. Next stop: Texas.
